Albert J. Derr, 84 Died peacefully Friday at
his home in Lansdale, PA.
Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Albert E. and
Mary A. (nee Feely) Derr. Mr. Derr was preceded in death by his
wife Mary R. (nee McCusker) Derr in 1980.
He was a graduate of North Catholic High School class of 1943,
Villanova University class of 46 and received his MBA from
Binghamton University in 1968.
Mr. Derr had a lifelong passion for photography,
railroads, Bridge, and Pipe Organs. He worked at ANSCO/GAF & the
Franklin Institute, including photographic projects for NASA
during the Gemini and Apollo missions. His true love was trains
and served as Project/Property Manager for SEPTA, Vice President
of Philadelphia Belt Line Railway, and President of both
Anthracite Railway and Octoraro Railway prior to his retirement
in 1991.
Mr. Derr was a member of National Railway Historical Society,
Theatre Organ Society of the Delaware Valley, Friends of the
Wanamaker Organ, ARRL (Ham Radio), MENSA, and a ACBL Bridge Life
Master.
He is survived by his children Rosemarie Derr and Albert J. Derr
both of Lansdale, his sister Dolores O'Reilly of Philadelphia
and his Niece and Nephew Judy O'Reilly & Terry O'Reilly
Relatives and Friends may call Thursday July 22, 2010 from 10:
30 to 11:30 AM at St. Rose of Lima Church, 424 S. Main St. North
Wales with a Funeral Mass at 11:30 AM. Interment will be in Holy
Sepulchre Cemetery, Cheltenham.
