Jeanette
Stevens Knapp, 86 of Ambler PA, died Thursday May 6, 2010 in the
Chestnut Hill Hospital Philadelphia, PA.
Born in the family home on Ardross Ave. in Upper Dublin, where
she lived most of her life, Mrs. Knapp was the daughter of the
late Edwin Roger and Martha (nee Fox) Stevens. Mrs. Knapp was a
graduate of Ambler High School, class of ’42, attending reunions
annually. Mrs. Knapp was preceded in death by her husband C.
Howard "Bud" Knapp, Jr., in 2003.
Following her marriage to
Mr. Knapp January 29th, 1972, she cared for her husband's family
and worked on the historic family farm in Lansdale, now the
headquarters of the Montgomery County Historical Society. Mrs.
Knapp’s first job was with the Philadelphia National Bank,
following that she worked for the Pennsylvania Salt Company.
The majority of her career was spent with McNeil Pharmaceutical
in Fort Washington until her retirement. She was a member of
Trinity Episcopal Church in Ambler where she served on the
garden committee and was an active participant in the Annual
Antiques Fair. She was a member of the Colony Club of Ambler,
the Clover Club, Fort Washington Horticultural Society and the
Montgomery County Historical Society.
She was the devoted mother of Nancy Lynn Marron and
mother-in-law of Rick of Lansdale, PA and the loving Grandmother
of Jena Stevens Marron and Charles Gordon Marron. She is
predeceased by her sisters Margaret S. Lawley, Ann (Nancy) S.
Miller and Donald Stevens and nieces Margaret Anne Elliot, Joan
Lawley Leighty and nephew Steven Hyde Miller.
Relatives and friends are invited to call from 10:00 to 11:00 AM
Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at Trinity Episcopal Church, Highland
Ave. and Bethlehem Pike Ambler, with a Requiem Eucharist at
11:00 AM with the Rev. David Canan Rector as Celebrant Interment
will be in Trinity Episcopal Church Memorial Garden.
Remembrances in her name to Trinity Episcopal Church, 708 S.
Bethlehem Pike, Ambler, PA 19002 would be appreciated by the
family.
